Legacy is an interdiciplinary program at Northampton High School and Northampton Middle School that focuses on the history, traditions, and environmental issues of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Established in 1993, Legacy was founded with the help of the Eastern Shore Historical Society and the Nature Conservancy. The high school program, taught by Biology teacher Tom Bonniwell, History teacher Doug Coburn , and English teacher Bill McCarter, uses self-directed study to fulfill the required Virginia State Standards of Learning.
